Frank Cho

Senior Pastor & Elder

Frank has been with NCC since the spring of 2007. A graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago and Moody Theological Seminary, he first served as Worship Director and now oversees discipleship and the overall vision of the church. Through years of involvement in discipleship, accountability, and Bible study groups, Frank is passionate about commitment to the local church, growing in service, pursuing restoration in relationships with others, and replicating as disciples of Jesus Christ so we can fulfill the Great Commission together.

Frank and his wife, Linda, are blessed with their son, Ethan, and daughter, Jayden.

Tom Kim

Elder

Tom has been with NCC since its inception in 1998. Serving as an elder, his heart’s desire is to see men grow into godly leaders in their homes, modeling love and faithfulness as husbands and fathers. He believes that when men follow the biblical principles God has set for husbands, it positively impacts their families and, ultimately, society as a whole.

Tom and his wife, Jeongwon, have been joyfully married since 1993 and are blessed with two daughters, Eunbee and Dahnbee, who also love the Lord.

Jeff Yu

Elder

Jeff has been a part of NCC since 2006. Born in Michigan and raised in New Jersey and Georgia, he accepted Christ during his time with InterVarsity while attending Case Western Reserve University. After graduating from the Morehouse School of Medicine, he moved to Chicago for internship and residency, eventually beginning his full-time medical career.

At NCC, Jeff has served as a Bible study leader, on Sunday camera and video production, and as a deacon. He is grateful to be part of a church committed to the preaching of God’s Word, the growth of mature disciples, and fulfilling the Great Commission. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies and playing tennis.

Phil Kwon

Worship Pastor

Phil has been with NCC since 2012 and joined the staff in March 2017. As Director of Worship, he oversees the worship committee, which includes the praise, welcoming, creative arts, fellowship, and open prayer teams. Having dreamed of becoming a worship pastor since he was 13, Phil is grateful to serve in a church that prioritizes worship as both a choice and a way of life.

Phil and his wife, Annie, have been joyfully married since November 2015 and are blessed with two bundles of joy, PJ and EJ.

Paul Sung

Youth Pastor
READ BIO
Paul has been with NCC since its start in 1998. He was raised in Chicagoland, Indonesia, Korea, and graduated high school in Zhenzhen, China. He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in computer engineering in 2018. After growing to know the Lord in college, he returned back to Chicago and served NCC as a Praise Intern, Youth Intern, and now Youth Pastor. He’s passionate about growing in his relationship with the Lord and alongside God's community. In his spare time, he enjoys video games, anime, and creating digital art and music.

Paul and his wife, Janice, have been joyfully married since December 2023, and their newlywed phase is still going strong.

Alice Ahn

Children's Ministry Director

Alice has been with NCC since 1999. She's a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Concordia University (River Forest, IL). She has faithfully served on the worship team since joining NCC and has periodically volunteered as a teacher in the Children's Ministry. After God placed a burden on Alice’s heart for families and children, followed by many months of prayer and receiving confirmation, she humbly accepted the position of Director of Children’s Ministry in the summer of 2025. Alice believes in the importance of introducing God to children at a young age and the vital role parents play in leading and modeling what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  

Alice and her husband, Brian, are blessed with their daughter, Isabelle.

Brad Paik

Founding Pastor

Brad received his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and served as New Community Church’s lead pastor from its inception in July 1998 until February 2025. He helps people resolve personal and philosophical struggles by addressing the dilemmas that arise from clashing worldviews. Brad has two main focuses in ministry: making mature disciples and planting churches to help fulfill the Great Commission.

Brad has been married to his wife, Sue, since 1992. They are blessed with two children, Samuel and Grace.
