Giving an offering is a form of worship in response to the blessings God has placed in our lives.
God is generous and so he calls us to be generous also. How we steward the financial resources He has given us shows the world where our hearts are at. We want to glorify God with all areas of our lives, and that includes what we do with the use and control of our finances.
